art of big and small

Friday only; 9am to 4pm Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Lunch, National Museum of Toys and Miniatures. $56 per person

First time in Kansas City? Then we invite you to consider a visit to two more of our jewels: The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, and The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures.

Inside the Nelson’s magnificent neoclassical structure, you’ll find a massive collection of sculpture, painting, and decorative art. We are especially proud of the new Henry Bloch (think tax preparation) Galleries of French impressionist paintings.

Your artistically prepared lunch will is served in the equally delicious Rozelle Court located at the museum.

Not your typical cafeteria

Forget everything you know about toys or miniatures; prepare to have your mind blown as you explore the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures.

I wouldn’t bet on these not working!

This modern facility houses what must be the greatest collection of miniature art anywhere in the world. One wonders who has the patience and skill needed to create these tiny masterpieces. Toys, too, abound at the museum.

Yes, I had one just like it!

You’ll find everything from antique dolls to Tonka trucks. Look closely and you’ll find a miniature ’30s Packard.
